Tayyib has no accounts, asks for no location, and never uploads your photographs. This page says exactly what that means, in plain words, and it describes what the app actually does rather than what a template says.
The short version
You do not sign in. We do not know who you are. When you photograph an ingredient panel, the reading happens on your phone and the picture stays there. The only things that reach our server are the barcode or the words you asked about — and, if you choose to add a missing product, what you typed.

What does leave your phone
A barcode, a product name, or an ingredient list you pasted. This is sent to our server so it can be checked against the halal reference and against Open Food Facts. It is a question about a product, not a fact about you.
Nothing else, unless you choose to submit a product. If a pack is not in any database and you decide to add it, what you typed is sent so a person can review it. That is a deliberate action with a button, never automatic.
The camera
Tayyib asks for camera access so you can scan a barcode or photograph an ingredient panel. The permission is marked optional — the app installs and runs on a device with no camera, and you can type a barcode or paste a label instead.
Reading the text out of a photograph happens on your device. The image is never transmitted, never stored on our servers, and is discarded when you leave the screen.
Submissions and how we count them
When you submit a missing product, our server records a one-way cryptographic hash derived from your network address and a secret key. We do this to stop one person flooding the review queue. It is not an identifier we can reverse, it is not shared, and it is not connected to anything else you do in the app.
We do not store your network address itself alongside the submission.
Advertising
This is the part where a third party is involved
The free version of Tayyib shows an occasional full-screen advert, served by Google AdMob. To do that, AdMob receives your device's advertising identifier and standard technical information about the device and the advert.
That data is handled by Google under Google's privacy policy, not by us. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Settings → Google → Ads on your phone.
The subscription removes the adverts, and with them this data sharing entirely. Nothing about the halal verdict is behind the paywall — an app that decides whether food is permissible must not put the answer behind a payment.
Payments
Subscriptions are handled by Google Play. We never see your card, and Play tells the app only whether a subscription is active. We do not hold any payment information.
Children
Tayyib is a reference tool for shoppers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect personal information at all.
Your rights
Because there is no account and nothing identifying you is stored, there is no personal file to request, correct or delete. If you submitted a product and would like it removed, write to us with what you sent and we will remove it.
Data we hold about products
Product records, ingredient rulings and the certifier list are reference data about products, not about people. Product information comes from Open Food Facts, contributed under the Open Database Licence.
What Tayyib does not claim
Tayyib reads ingredient lists. It is an aid to reading a label — not a fatwa, not a halal certificate, and not a substitute for reading the packaging or asking a qualified scholar or a recognised certification body. A label may say "natural flavouring" and stop there, a camera can misread small print, and a manufacturer can change a recipe without changing the pack. The app tells you when it cannot be sure rather than guessing.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and a material change will be announced in the app.
